Remodel & Renovation Cleanup in Clinton, MA

The trades have gone and you are still living here. The new kitchen looks wonderful, and there is grit on the stairs, dust on a bookshelf in a room nobody worked in, and a fine grey film over everything you touch. This is the clean that gives you the whole house back.

Renovation debris and materials before cleanup

For families who stayed put through the work and now want the entire house back, not only the room that was renovated.

The dust does not stay in the room the work was in

Sheeting and a zipped door slow it down; they do not stop it. Dust leaves on boots, on the dog, and through the doorway every time somebody carries a board out. Two rooms away, run a finger along the top of a door frame and you will find the job. The renovated room is often the least of it — we clean the work area and the rooms it traveled into, including the ones you have been keeping the door shut on for six weeks.

Your things are still in the house

A new build is empty. Your home is not. There are books, clothes, toys, food in the cupboards, and a sofa that has been sitting under all of this the entire time. That changes the work: things get moved and put back rather than cleaned around, and the surfaces that hold dust — shelves, picture frames, the tops of doors, the inside of the fridge — are the ones that decide whether the house feels finished. Under and behind the couches and the beds too, because that is where it all ends up.

One pass will not do it, and you are the one who will notice

Because you live here, you see the house at seven the next morning. Construction dust settles more than once: a single pass looks clean and grays over within a day, and in an occupied home that is the difference between relief and disappointment. We work top down and go back over surfaces once the air has settled, so the house you wake up to is the house we left.

Common questions

You might be wondering

We are still living here. Do we need to be out of the house?

No. We are used to working around a house that is in use. Tell us which rooms the family needs during the day and which are free, and we will sequence around that. If there is a baby in the house, or pets, say so when you book — it changes where we start and how we work.

The builders tidied up before they left. Is that not enough?

A builder's clean-up is tidying: tools out, waste gone, floors swept. That is a genuinely different job from cleaning, and it leaves the film on every surface your family touches. The test is simple — has anybody taken the drawers out, or wiped the top of a door frame?

Only one room was renovated. Why would you clean the whole house?

You may not need us to. We will happily do the work area alone if that is what you want. Before you decide, walk two rooms away and check the tops of the door frames and the shelves at head height, because that is where you will find out how far the dust actually went.

How long after the trades leave should we wait to book?

Until they are genuinely finished, including the painter coming back for touch-ups and anything still to be sanded or cut. Anything cleaned before that last dusty hour has to be done again. If you are unsure whether they are done, call us and describe what is left.
