The sanctuary, treated as a sanctuary
Pews and pew ends, hymnal and card racks, kneelers, the aisles, and the floor under the pews where paper and dust settle out of sight. Around the altar and anything used in worship we follow your direction. We clean what you ask us to clean and we do not move or handle what is not ours to move. Where a member of the congregation already cares for something in particular, we leave it to them.
Scheduled around your week, not ours
Most churches want the building at its best for Sunday morning and cleared up after whatever happened on Saturday. Some need the hall turned round between a funeral lunch and a meeting on the same day. Tell us the rhythm of your week and we fit the visit into the quiet part of it, outside the hours the building is in use.
The hall takes more punishment than the sanctuary
Coffee hours, suppers, committee meetings and the outside groups who use the room during the week all land in the same space. Floors, tables and chairs, the kitchen at the back, and washrooms used by everyone who walks through the door. This is usually the part that wears volunteers out first, and it is usually the part a church hands over first.

Common questions
You might be wondering
When would you come? The building is used most days.
Whenever it is quiet. For most churches that means a weekday morning or an evening, with the main visit landing before Sunday. If your week changes because of a funeral, a wedding or a hall booking, tell us and we move the visit rather than clean around a room full of people.
Will you move things around the altar?
Not unless you ask us to. Walk us through the sanctuary once at the start and tell us what is ours to touch and what is not. After that we follow it without needing to be reminded, and anything we are unsure about we leave alone and mention to you.
Our volunteers still want to do some of it themselves. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Keep the parts your people take pride in and hand us the rest — most often the washrooms, the hall floors and the clear-up after events. Tell us where the line falls and we work to it.
Can you clean after weddings, funerals and suppers?
Yes. A hall used for a funeral lunch on Tuesday may need to be a meeting room by Wednesday evening, and that turnaround is a normal request. Tell us what the room has to become and by when, and we will say honestly whether we can hold the slot.
